Rod Bugg

Thinking Around

17th September - 7th November

Rod Bugg’s work expresses itself in an indirect dialogue between his paper-based drawings and his three-dimensional pieces for wall and floor. Beneath their apparent quietude, his installations present an underlying challenge to the conventions of the gallery space itself, activating areas that are normally mute and disregarded, suggesting connections and relationships, which shift the viewer’s understanding of the voids and solids that populate the space.

Rod is Emeritus Professor in Sculpture at University of the Arts London.  He was Dean of Art at Central Saint Martins and then Principal of Wimbledon School of Art and is currently Lead Artist on the Sculpture Programme at the Sidney Nolan Trust in Presteigne on the Welsh borders.
