Back Flat Quay House
Background and Brief
This 52m2 flat was designed initially as a shell within the Quay House Development (see Quay House icon and fact sheet). The brief was to fit it out so that it could either be sold or rented out. The scheme was designed, project managed and built by Quay 2c.
Scheme
The layout was dominated by taking advantage of the balcony, large patio window and view to the back gardens to the north. This meant that the living / dining / kitchen area was conceived as an open-plan area to benefit from these amenities. The bathroom, although small, is mirrored and the walls are lined in brightly coloured perspex to make it appear bigger and lighter. The bedroom takes advantage of the windows to the rear, while the whole flat has a polished concrete floor with under floor heating.
